10+ On-page Optimization Factors You Must Consider To Boost Ranking

When it comes to performing SEO for a blog or website, there are two main factors that play the main roles. These factors are On-page optimization and Off-page optimization. I wrote many posts on SEO in this blog. But this post is about On-Page optimization factors of SEO. On-Page optimization plays significant roles in the website’s visibility in search results. So, you must know and consider it while writing a new article on your blog. These factors have a big impact on the ranking of an article on Google. So, you must read this carefully.

On-page Optimization

On-Page Optimization mainly focuses on content and page optimization. In On-page optimization, you will have to take care of keyword, images, content, links, and other things on the pages.

As I already discussed many times, keywords are the main thing that Google searches on a website. So we must think of popular keywords and write good quality content optimized for that keyword. There are a few rules which you must follow to get better results

If you have any doubt, let me explain a few things.

Google is a search engine based on few search algorithms. These search algorithms parse the web, reads the webpages and filter keywords of the page. Number of frequency and optimization of the keyword plays major role in the ranking of the page for keywords found on the page. So, visibility of your website depends only on the way you use keywords on your websites. By using some set of steps for optimization, we can get better ranking in Google search results.

On-page Optimization Factors

Here I am going to discuss a few factors which can help you while doing On-page optimization of your blog.

1. Title of page

This is the most important thing to take care of. Your title decides how your page will do in search results. So always try to use the main keyword in the blog post title. But one thing you must know that repeating the keyword is not recommended. Try to limit your blog post title between 40 to 60 characters only with spaces.

2. Heading Tags

Heading tags also have importance in website ranking. So you must try to use heading tags H1, H2, H3, etc. to show some significant points. Use the main keywords of your blog post in heading tags to show their importance to Google. But never repeat title tags too many times on a page. It can lead to Google’s penalty.

See the video which explains the use of heading tags and their frequency in a blog post.

3. Keyword Density

Here comes the main SEO factor for the On-page optimization of a blog. You must decide some target keywords for your blog post and write optimized content. But try to keep keyword density up to 2. I saw many bloggers using keyword density up to 5. But this is not recommended. You can also use bold and italic to highlight your relevant keywords. To check the keyword, density, you can use available keyword density checker tools. If you are using WordPress, you can use some popular SEO plugins which come with Keyword density checker tool.

You can always use SEMrush for proper keyword research.

4. Permalink Structure

This is also a great way to make a blog post SEO friendly. If your blog URL also contains the keyword, you will surely see some better treatment from Google. Try to have an optimized and standard permalink structure. Avoid using special characters and symbols in the URL. In Blogger, it automatically defines permalink according to the post title, but WordPress users can change the permalink structure.

5. Post length

Although there is no official statement by Google on post length, short posts often see a bad ranking. Google always go for long and descriptive content. News websites are the only exceptions where shorter posts can work. But for bloggers, I recommend writing posts having a length of more than 300 words. Always be descriptive while writing a blog post. Try to give readers as much as possible.

6. Interlinking of post

This is also a nice practice while writing a blog post. You should always link to some related posts on your blog to send page rank and traffic to other posts on your blog. It also helps readers to get more content on your blog, and it helps you to reduce the bounce rate. You should use keyword-rich anchor text as it will help the linking posts perform better on Google and other search engines for their targeted anchor texts. There are various WordPress plugins that help in finding related posts for interlinking.

7. Meta Tags

Use your targeted keywords in the meta keyword and meta description tags. Write a summary of your blog post in the meta description. Although Google does not see the Keyword meta tag for ranking factor, other search engines still use these. So it is nice to practice adding keyword-rich meta tags.

8. Images

I have already discussed the importance of SEO of Images. Images can help in driving image search traffic. You should always use the relevant image in each blog post. Try to add the keyword in the title and alt of the image. Images also make the look the most attractive. But try to add images of lower size. Adding a larger image can slow down the speed of your website.

9. Site Speed

User experience is one of the most important things. In this, the website’s speed plays an important role. If your website is slow in loading, it will irritate people, and you will lose your readers and visitors. Google also consider this while ranking a page in the search engine results page. So, you must consider this as an important on-page factor.

10. Outgoing links

Like inbound links, out-going links are also very important for a page. For example, if you want to mention Google.com, you must mention it like Google.com. If you give links to a few relevant and high-authority websites, it helps your page too. So, do not forget to give credit to Wikipedia or other sources that you considered while writing a post.

11. Quality content

We know ‘Content is King.’ So, we should always try to produce quality content which gives something to readers. Never copy paste it from other blogs. Google Panda algorithm is always there to slap you. Try to explain things in your words but use easy to understand language. Be descriptive with short sentences. Proper use of images makes an article better. So, do not forget to use images and graphics to explain what you want to say. Always focus on the quality of content in place of the frequency of articles in your blog.

You can also use some nice SEO tools to see the optimization of your blog post before publishing it. I will recommend using SEO plugins in case you use WordPress for your blog. Have I missed some other important On-Page SEO factors? Comment below and let me know.
